MT. AGAD-AGAD

Mountain climbing is not for everyone since it encompasses both danger and hardship. However, with Iligan City’s Mt. Agad-agad, one can achieve the adventure with the least cost and risk.

Mt. Agad-agad has an elevation of approximately 1600 feet above sea level, the highest in the vicinity of Iligan City. The trailhead is situated at Barangay Pugaan, just 5.5km from the city, which can be reached by a jeepney ride, for P14, departing from the public market. In addition, a P5 entrance fee per head is collected by the care takers of the mountain upon getting there.

Initially, a hanging bridge, connecting the main road to the jump-off point at the foot of the mountain, will mark the beginning of the trail. From there, green sceneries will surround you, from vegetation to woodlands.  Before reaching the summit, a small waterfall and a lagoon will welcome you and will help appease you from exhaustion. And once you get there, the panoramic view of the City of Iligan will conclude your journey with satisfaction, especially on night time when the city will be sparkling with its street lights.

Truly, the best way to experience Mt. Agad-agad is to camp overnight, for, in addition to the aforementioned sights, you will be able to witness the birth of the dawn through the clouds’ perspective. Also, you will appreciate the scenic views of the Iligan Bay of the north and Panguil Bay of the far west when the sunlight beams touch the waves. And when graced by the clear sky, you can see the silhouettes of Mt. Malindang of the westside and Mt. Inayawan of the southwest.

Moreover, before descending back to the trailhead, it is much recommended to encounter first the mahogany-covered summit located 5-10 minutes away from the viewpoint. The area is a great place for relaxation and meditation with the fresh cool air that nature offers.

Indeed, one of best ways to experience the best of Iligan City is to discover its wilderness together with your wildness.
