MIMBALOT FALLS

For anyone who visited Iligan City, the tour would not be complete without trekking the city’s Tourism Triangle that includes Ma. Cristina Falls, Tinago Falls and Mimbalot Falls.

The city is a plethora of waterfalls that are tucked inside mountains, forests and rock formations that bares nature at its best and rawest form.

One of the waterfalls in Iligan is the Mimbalot Falls which can be reached at approximately 11 kilometers from the city proper located at Brgy. Buru-un that would take about 20 to 30 minute drive making it the most accessible waterfall in Iligan due to its proximity in the national highway. It  is a popular getaway for anyone who loves adventure with its jutting rock edges, slippery trails, a towering 90 ft. water drop and 18 ft. wide front. The falls cascades down to a course of large rocks and pool basins where you can swim on its shallow areas. It also moves on torrents and everyone is advised to take extra precaution around on slipping into rapids. The waterfall will be greatly experienced up close against the drop that would make perfect photo opportunities for daredevils.

For anyone who loves to do river-trekking, you can reach Mimbalot Falls from Tinago Falls as the two flows through the same river course where you can trek for about two hours or more.

Built and developed around the area is the Iligan Paradise Resort and Eco Park where one can find a number of fun-filled and thrilling activities to experience such as ziplines, all-terrain vehicle (ATV) rides, cable cars, tubing, kayaking, dirt-trail biking, euro bungee and horseback riding. The park also has playground for kids, swimming pools and cottages to relax and eat.

The waterfall can be reached via a public utility jeepney (PUJ) bound to Brgy. Buru-un from the city proper for Php 13 – 15 . Take the road bend from Sgt. Miguel Canoy Memorial School and ride a motorcyle to arrive at the waterfall or you can take a hike for about ten minutes through the dirt road.

Park entrance fees are Php 25 for adult and Php 15 for kids. Business hours is 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM from Monday to Sunday.

For the love of losing yourself in pure adventure and experiencing nature at its best, Mimbalot Falls is your upcoming destination to be included in your next itinerary. This and much more places to come and visit the best of Iligan.
